There are thousands of tasks listed on the server unsent (Generalized symmetries in parastrophic slices for DLS of order 10) but but I am getting a server message stating that there are none available...
After a few minutes I get a couple of tasks that are finished within seconds and then the wait starts all over again.

We manually added a large set of this workunits (so that theu were processed as soon as possible) and at some points in time their preparation was slower than its processing. :) Now tasks available.

To make matters worse, as no tasks were sent, Boinc puts a 10 minute hold on asking for new work further limiting my processing of tasks.

Check your project preferences. The new applications need to be enabled.
