Long summer days are left behind, solemn autumn comes! Clouds are more and more often close the Sun, and before goes to winter sleep, using a leafs, berries, mushrooms, water, bark and needles, nature turns Karelian forests into majestic picture, painting them with all colors of the rainbow. We currently have this

1 Hedgehog 5,000
2 Squirrel 25,000
3 Hare 60,000
4 Weasel 125,000
5 Raccoon 300,000

6 Beaver 500,000
7 Badger 1,000,000
8 Boar 3,000,000
9 Ladoga Seal 7,500,000

10 Fox 10,000,000
11 Wolf 15,000,000
12 Lynx 25,000,000

13 Deer 50,000,000
14 Elk 75,000,000
15 Bear 100,000,000

Reading up on the Karelia Region I found a listing of some of the animals that live in the area (may also be Russia in general?)

I found

Moose,
Golden Eagle,
Siberian Tiger,
Viper

There was also a Flat-forheaded Bull but I have not seen a picture of it, so it might be just be an fairly ordinary member of the cattle family with a odd head.
Also I can't remember the differences, if any, between Moose and Elk (which we already have), possibly the Moose is the largest species of Elk, I think, so that one can be deleted.
+ I know Siberia is a long way from Karelia, but a Tiger may not know that.

So from this you could add a number of levels

250,000,000-----Moose / Flat-Forheaded Bull
500,000.000-----Viper
750,000,000-----Tiger / Siberian Tiger
1,000,000,000----Golden Eagle

All lofty goals but the 250 million level has already been reached.

My research was brief so could be wrong, the levels maybe higher than you want but go in the sequence of the previous levels. A lot of projects who thought 1,000,000,000 points would not be reached have seen that passed, with a lot of big players and groups like Gridcoin now working on heaps of projects.

The levels and assigned animals are to be changed to suit at will.

Just some suggestions, I would love to be chasing those levels, but it will take me a long time.

Thanks
Conan

Dear Conan,

thank you for ideas. It is nice to see people reacting and proposing new things. We thought of 3 more large animals to proceed that series of badges.
As I understand, the Moose is an American kind (or just the word is), and the Elk is Eurasian. And we definitely have no tigers! :) They live only in the Far East (Pacific coast of Russia). Also, no wild bulls of any kind.

We also think of starting a new series of badges, for the total number of findings instead of the credit. It can be birds of Karelia because they "collect" findings.

No worries,
I think now what I was reading may of been animals of the region during the past few thousand years, so the animals I proposed may of been in the area once but they are no longer there now.

Well of all my animal proposals that only leaves the Golden Eagle and Viper.

There are quite a few bird species in the area, so you have a fairly wide choice.

Hello morgan! You are very right about the Marten, and we also forgot the Mink. We asked some colleagues (many have a hobby of hunting and gathering in forests), and they say that in principle Racoon can be met sometimes, but it does not do much harm to households. Probably, because bigger animals leave it behind.

A bit more research and I found that the Moose of America is what Europeans call an Elk (basically the same animal), however to confuse things in America (USA, maybe Canada) they call the largest of the deer family an Elk or Wapiti, (the antlers are the easiest way to tell them apart), closely related to the American Elk (Wapiti) is the Caribou which is what Europeans call a Reindeer, so confusing.

You can add to the animal list of Viper and Golden Eagle, the Wolverine.

There is also a Black Polecat, but I don't know if it is related to the Weasel / Mink family or not.

Thanks
