FYI for the Site Admin, Sometimes this puts a very heavy overhead on your Website and Servers.
Some Members will download Thousands of Task now to Bunker for this Sprint.

bcavnaugh, hello!

We welcome Formula BOINC! The project server works normally, we are registering similar activity since yesterday, but now the number of tasks "In progress" beats the records! Hope, that top lines of Best 10 days by Granted Credit will be overwritten!

Folks, please read a notice about reducing size of report requests. When your hosts start to report a large bunch of results this setting may need for you.

Made a news and notice in BOINC Manager - Use a max_tasks_reported option.
As any other serious competition, Formula BOINC race challenge requires a tuning! :)

For example, size of request to report ~ N thousands of tasks can have a size about a several Mbytes and, of course, that is not normal size for web-request. Project server must filter request with size like this.

The first 24 hours of the sprint are now over. Altogether, the teams which are tracked by the Formula BOINC site received 16,233,075 credits in total so far.*

I don't know at which points in time boincstats.com updates, but yes, I expect that each day of this sprint is going to make it into boincstat's list of top ten days by granted credit.

--------
*) There is a system of three leagues in Formula BOINC. In league 1, there are 23 teams with non-zero credits so far, who made 8,992,281 together. League 2 has 11 teams with credit >0, who made 7,098,454 credits in total. There are 4 teams with credit in league 3 with 142,340 credits total.

Current top 3 in league 1: TeAm AnandTech, SETI.USA (closing in fast), Rechenkraft.net.
Current top 3 in league 2: XtremeSystems, [H]ard|OCP, Crunching@EVGA.
Current top 3 in league 3: LITOMYSL Boinc Team Czech Republic, Anguillan Pirates, BOINC.BE.

Thanks Natalia for the teaser!!

Like xii5ku said, round 1 is over. Expect more for the next rounds. Uploading seems very slow right now so ya'll may want to check.
There's gonna be a lot of bunkers going out from here on out. It'd be sux if the server goes down.
Thanks for doing a nice job so far! Crunch on!

Now, in the project, more than 1 canonical result generates per second. Concequently, more than 2 results from computers are processed per second. About 3 or 4 hours ago, comparable number of tasks per second was requested from computers. We monitor the logs of project server processes (during a race it is a very interesting exercise!). Validators works normally, but the number of results from computers is really high - about by factor 10 or even 15 more than in usual day of project life. If everyday processing rate will be like this, computing of whole workunits will be completed in 7 or 8 months. By approaching to sprint finish, rate of tasks request (as I think) will go down by several times, I/O load to server will go down also, and validators process all tasks from queue.

Watching!

Second day standings:

32,684,958 credits total for all teams tracked by the Formula BOINC site (+16,451,883 from yesterday)

18,164,600 total in league 1 (+9,172,319 from yesterday)
14,057,071 total in league 2 (+6,958,617 from yesterday
463,287 total in league 3 (+320,947 from yesterday)

In league 1, TeAm AnandTech and SETI.USA are about tied now for first, while Rechenkraft.net, Russia Team, and Czech National Team are battling it out for third.

Current top 3 in league 2: XtremeSystems, [H]ard|OCP (both with more points each than the top teams of league 1), and Crunching@EVGA (with more points than the third teams of league 1)!

Current top 3 in league 3: Anguillan Pirates, LITOMYSL Boinc Team Czech Republic, BOINC.BE.

Yes, when will the validator catch up? Some tasks have been waiting to be validated for over 2 days since being completed by both wingmen.

xii5ku, thank you for race report! ChristianVirtual, kashi - thank you for iformation about large lag! We know, that many workunits need a validation, but don't know that many of them received a two days ago, because many new results pass validation immediately.

We performed an additional investigation of situation and detect a some unexpected behavior of server processes (may be absolutely correct, but really unexpected because during usual loads we don't saw this) - time of next validation of many (but not all!) results and workunits shifted to 2 August! We set this time to 2018-07-29 00:00:00 and validators already returned to process them. Please check the situation now.

We see a several places for optimization and speedup of server works, but each of them need a server shutdown and this is not a good idea for last 16 hours of race. Formula BOINC sprints and marathons is a really cool things!

Yes those tasks completed 2 days ago have now been validated. Well done, thank you for your prompt action to fix this.

I still have a large number of validation pending. I suppose this is related to the Formula Boinc Sprint as some people appear to have downloaded more work than they can complete.

yeah; without Wingman and credits posted ;-) Now I get (maybe) my credit post sprint ... still good for the marathon but helping for the ranking overall.

still 1600 pending validation; many with wingman also returned ... don't see any credits added to my score ; hope in 12 hours we can get some through. Maybe reboot is still a good idea.

We parallelized the validator into 8 instances and restarted the server. It went well.

Problem on your server is probably disk IO and not number of validators.
We can discuss this via email.
